The bowl is decorated on the inside with the iconic "Mishima technique", in which floral motifs are inlaid using a ceramic stamp. This inlay technique was probably introduced to Japan by Korean potters in the 16th century. The kdai, the base of the bowl, is designed in the shape of a cherry blossom. Made in Kyoto, Japan.
